Artist’s impressions include huge public squares in front of the refurbished Brabazon hangars on the former Filton Airfield site. The projected opening date for the arena complex is late 2026 at the earliest.

The ‘front’ aspect of the development would face onto Rectory Lane, with the ‘rear’ backing onto the existing Toolstation store and the A38 Gloucester Road North beyond.

However, improved design work has created the opportunity to increase the maximum capacity of the arena from 17,000 to 19,000, with over 2,000 “premium seats”.

Airbus in Filton recently welcomed 71 new recruits to the company’s graduate programme, along with a further 68 apprentices. These are in addition to the 69 interns who started their year-long UK industry placement in July.
