Temporary closure of footpath at Filton Abbey Wood Station

Sign warning of footpath closure at Filton Abbey Wood Station.

Passengers at Filton Abbey Wood Station are being reminded that the footpath between the car park and the platforms is to close temporarily from Sunday 7th May.

The closure, which will run until autumn 2017, is to allow engineering works to be safely carried out.

Pedestrians will need to follow a signed diversion route from the car park in Emma Chris Way, along Nutfield Grove and through the grounds of Nutfield House to join the footbridge to the platforms.

Network Rail project management assistant Rebecca Tipper said:

“Passengers should allow around an extra ten minutes to ensure they safely catch their trains. We would like to thank them in advance for their patience while this work is carried out.”

The diversion only affects passengers arriving on the car park side of the station.

In addition, cabins will be placed in the station car park to accommodate the team carrying out the work. As a result, fewer spaces will be available and spaces reserved for drivers with disabilities will be relocated within the car park.

Due to planned work between Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads, a rail replacement service will operate from Filton Abbey Wood from:

  • 23:45 Saturday 6th May to 04:45 Monday 8th May
  • 23:45 Saturday 13th May to 04:45 Monday 15th May
  • 23:45 Saturday 20th May to 04:45 Monday 2nd2 May

The rail replacement point is at the main entrance of the station on Emma Chris Way.
