A planned train station by the new arena in Filton will not open until 2026 after delays were blamed on several design changes. North Filton Station was initially due to open next year (2023), before the YTL Arena opens in 2024, as a key part of the transport plan to get people to concerts.

Airbus’ early careers recruitment nears pre-pandemic records
Airbus’ UK sites in Filton and Broughton have welcomed their largest number of apprentices and graduates since the end of the pandemic. Airbus in Filton recently welcomed 71 new recruits to the company’s graduate programme, along with a further 68 apprentices. These are in addition to the 69 interns who started their year-long UK industry placement in July.

Plans have been submitted to build a group of eight industrial/warehouse units on a parcel of vacant land within the Horizon 38 business park in north Filton. The site lies to the rear of the Village Hotel Bristol and borders Gipsy Patch Lane to the north, Taurus Road to the east and Bullfinch Close to the south.

Urgent work to to rebuild a retaining wall alongside the A38 Gloucester Road North in Filton starts on Friday 14th January and is expected to last 12 weeks. From Monday 17th January one lane (of two) on the southbound (Bristol-bound) carriageway and the adjoining footpath will be closed. Pedestrians will be diverted via the existing signal-controlled crossings.
