Hundreds of residents enjoyed a great day out on Saturday 18th August at Merlin Housing Society’s annual Summer Fun Day in Filton.
Residents were entertained by the Rockwood Dog Display Team, the King Edmund’s Acro-gymnastics team and a stilt-walking balloon modeller, with music from Bradley Stoke Radio playing throughout the day. Other attractions at the event in Elm Park included a helter skelter, fun house, bouncy castles, coconut shy and a chance to meet the Gruffalo. There were also plenty of challenges for residents including giant jigsaw puzzles, tent making and a pirate treasure hunt.
Neighbourhood Housing Team Leader Claire Cook, who organised the event, said:
“It was a fantastic day and it was wonderful to see so many residents and their families come along and enjoy themselves. Everyone had a smile on their face and that was the most important thing for us.”
“We’ve picked up lots of feedback about how we can improve our services and residents also voted on which charity we should raise money for over the next year. We’re delighted to say that the Bristol-based Brandon Trust, which supports people with learning disabilities, including some of our residents, won the vote. And they’ll benefit straightaway as we raised money on the day which we’ll be donating to them.”
